HANNAH, MARTIN Marriage – Newdale, Manitoba, Canada, 1911
In the Douglas Point Presbyterian Church, Winnipeg, at two o’clock, on Tuesday June 27, a quiet wedding took place, the contracting parties being Miss Margaret May, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hannah, of Portage La Prairie, and Albert E., eldest son of Mr. And Mrs. George Martin of Newdale, Man. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J. S. Muldrew, in the presence of the immediate relatives. The bride, who looked charming in a dress of white Irish embroidery and a large picture hat, was given away by her father, and was assisted by her sister, Miss Mary Hannah, wearing a dress of blue mull trimmed with lace and insertion.
The bride carried a bouquet of bridal roses and ferns, while the bridesmaid’s was of pink carnations. The best man was Dr. J. Roy Martin of Winnipeg, brother of the groom. After the ceremony, the wedding party repaired to the home of the bride’s sister, Mr. N. Shirray, where a dainty lunch was served. An interesting feature of the occasion was the fact that the wedding took place on the 35th anniversary of the marriage of the brides’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Martin will spend a brief honeymoon at Detroit Lakes and upon returning will take up their residence in Newdale.
